activities for varied projects with multi-site operations too.
Job Role:
Set up and maintenance of the configuration
management environment
*For Global
projects, work with Architects and PM for ensuring the environments are aligned
to the Global environment for development & builds.
*Managing the build process.
*To organize and maintain the product stability and
recoverability throughout the development lifecycle phases.
*To ensure that the four basic aspects of
Configuration management (viz. version management, change management, status
accounting and auditing) are systematically followed.
*Setup & maintenance of Defect Management
software if deployed locally & being a single point of contact for the
projects to get the tooling issue resolved in case used from remote site.
*Setup, administration & maintenance of
Requirement Management software if deployed locally and being a single point of
contact for the projects to get the issue resolved in case used from remote
site.
*Setup, administration & maintenance of the
Testing tools used by the project.
License Usage & Management for the above tools
Responsibilities:
Mandatory Skills / Requirement:
* Experience with designing and Implementing CM
strategies for Products
* Reporting CM metrics, and related KPI’s to stake
holders
* Perform ongoing operations for software
development functions including software version control, build and packaging
* Works with development to compile, build and
deploy, using Microsoft platform tools and application.
* Maintain, enhance and define new build systems and
automated build processes
* Ensures proper archiving and version control of
product releases
* Lead/Oversee branching and merging of the code
base
* Lead the planning and implementation of changes to
the engineering infrastructure relating to CM
* Serves as an advocate CM and SDLC best practices
and procedures
* Source Control experience in ClearCase,
Subversion, RTC and TFS.
* Experience with defect management tools like
ClearQuest, Mantis, and Bugzilla
* Experience with Build Management tools like Cruise
Control, Electric Commander, Hudson, etc
* Ability to mentor and train team.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Familiar with Packaging tools like Install shield
and Wix
* Well-versed in Build/Release management.
* System Development Life Cycle familiarity.
* Excellent skills in build and release management
in multiple site environment
* Ready to work on new Tools and Technologies
related to SCM
* Batch scripting knowledge is an added advantage
* Knowledge in review Config files and source code,
identify build errors and notifies appropriate team.
* .Net / VB scripting knowledge is an added
advantage
* Ability to work with onshore and offshore team
* Proficient with build utilities like MSBuild, NANT
etc

*Accountable for releases & deliverables to the
customer
*Deployment and adherence of CM "way of
working" in the project
*Planning and estimation of project growth from a CM
perspective
Authorities
*Author of all software configuration management
plans.
*Approves the baselines and release notes.
*Infrastructure projection for budgeting.

Decisions should be made in the following areas,
*When a project should be base lined.
*How Multi-site operations should be done
*Customizations required by the project
*Tool and version for Configuration Management,
Defect Management, Requirements Management that would be used for any project.
