creative. The team provides analytics tools and expertise to drive data-driven
decision-making across all Yahoo! product and regional teams and focuses on
thought leadership for data-driven advertising, industry measurement, and the
value of Yahoo! data. Advertising and Data is part of Technology and
Operations. Advertising and data is comprised of seven functional areas –
Advertiser, Publisher, Marketplace, Consumer product insights, Advertising and
Data solutions, Continuous delivery, and Strategic revenue initiatives. The
group is organized around the principles of Putting the customer first (by
aligning around customers, not platforms), Going faster (by merging teams to
simplify accountability with fewer decision makers), and Encouraging teamwork
(by moving to an agile model).
Responsibilities
This is a hands on position where you are expected to take
complete owner ship of Oracle based Data Warehousing. You should be able to
work independently in an agile development environment to build scalable
solutions and optimize database performance. You will work closely with
architect and end engineers to deliver solutions. We are looking for someone
with extensive development experience with Oracle DBMS. The key
responsibilities include:
Data warehouse solutions: design, creation, loading and
maintenance from a variety of operational systems per user requirements
Assessing the performance and capacity requirements of the
data warehouse and related systems
Contributing to key technology decisions
Verify that the architecture and implementation meets all
user requirements
Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) functions from a variety
of operational systems
Experience
· B.Tech/MS or
higher degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a top school
· 8-10 years
of software development experience
Required Skills
· Experience
in developing large scale data warehousing solutions.
· Experience
in implementing Data Warehouse architectures including the following items is
required: Data staging areas, Cleansing and transformation mechanisms,
Normalized databases, Star / Snowflake schemas, Business Intelligence delivery
mechanisms

Physical/Logical/ER Data modeling
· Extensive
Hands on experience with PL/SQL.
· Thorough
understanding of Oracle Architecture
· Have
extensive experience working with Oracle database tuning and performance
optimization.
· Have some
exposure to BI tools and ability to model dimensions, facts and measures for a
given business problem. Should be able to independently handle ETL and data
cleansing issues.
· Good
knowledge of Unix/Linux, Perl and shell scripting
· Experience
with Hadoop, Hive, Pig scripting is desirable
· Should be
able to do address sizing, scaling and retention issues and come up guidance
and strategies for new business requirements
