Job Description
Leads the Design and Implementation of a highly scalable DB solution
Works closely with Product Management/Engineering to ensure functional
requirements are catered to
Develops the deployment strategy to ensure high performance,
scalability and availability of the system
Helps manager build sprint plans and executes on the plans
Assists with functional and non-functional tests to ensure overall
product quality
Works with QA to review system test plans and test cases
Helps resolve defects raised by QA in a timely manner
Stays informed about new/upcoming changes to the development
technologies used and inducts into the product in consultation with product
architect
Stays informed about technical trends in area of work and inducts the
best practices into the deliverables
Complies with the Software Engineering processes/best practices
defined for the project
Proactively analyses issues/opportunities for improving performance,
scalability, availability and security of the implementation and inducts
changes
Desired Profile
Expert level skills in DB Design using SQL/NoSQL technologies
Expert level knowledge of Rails environment and 3rd party components
Expert level skills in Databases like MySQL and Mongo DB
Experience developing large DB implementations for solutions catering
to large data volumes and user bases (10k plus concurrent users)
Experience developing high performance/scalable systems used by
thousands of concurrent users
Familiar with UML, ability to develop/interpret UML based designs
Hands on experience in production support for solutions with huge data
volumes
Familiar with Administration of selected DB's
Good team player, experience mentoring fresh/inexperienced developers
Familiarity using design patterns applicable to development
assignments
Extensive experience using Version Control systems like
GIT/CVS/Perforce and using branching/merging techniques
Experience working in Agile development environments
