Seeking a full time candidate to join our team of UNIX and Linux professionals.

The HPIT ITIO Deep Support team provides services to all of HP IT application globally by providing hosting environment of UNIX, Linux, Solaris and IBM AS/ 400. The candidate will work in a highly dynamic, fast changing and fluid work environment with exposure to HP\' s latest software and hardware products. The candidate will be responsible for driving technical service resolution to maintain and run high level of customer satisfaction by technical and functional support, supporting High Availability Disaster Recovery Clustered systems using UNIX, Linux and IBM AS/ 400 platform 24x7.

The Deep Support team through the daytime shift covers their duties 7 days a week from 7pm CST to 7am CST from remote location in Bangalore, India or Cyberjaya, Malaysia. The principal duties and responsibilities of each team members are the following, but are not limited to:


To act as a Leader and take ownership of Incident Management tickets that are assigned to the queue and work with all relevant parties to resolve the issue and restore the service.
Act as a material matter expert for all UNIX, Linux, ESX and IBM AS/ 400 disciplines

The IBM AS/ 400 has to be IPLed every week and only the sysadmins can do that. Systems admin are the only ones that can add new jobs into the job scheduler, add new menu options, etc on AS/ 400
System Administrators are critical for keeping the AS/ 400 (Vista) system UP and running. In case of system down or any new alerts, System Admins are the ones who monitor alerts and take corrective actions or alert the development team.
Security is maintained by system administrators. They add all users/ changes on Vista. If we have issues with user accounts and/ or if changes are needed, system admins perform that change with proper approval.

They are responsible for the system level software such as Mimix which replicates the data to the high availability server and needs constant monitoring else the system will crash.

They monitor system performance and alert us to 100% cpu by jobs, long running jobs, etc.
Without this daily management of the AS/ 400 systems and underlying OS and application, Vista Direct would fail, result in unplanned downtime, jeopardize the Quote-to-Cash & Order Management processes, and ultimately, cause revenue loss.

In case of any hardware or software/ application issues, Deep support admins can resolve the issue and bring system back to operation.

Generate performance reports, analysis of failures, trend analysis, identify potential solutions and implement the corrective actions for Unix and Linux

Participate in formal Escalation whenever required to support escalation especially during crisis.

Participate and initiate Service Improvement Plan as part of Continual Service Improvement activity within Deep Support

Take ownership of the Emergency Change Management tasks assigned and ensure the completion of the task according to the documented implementation plan

Participate in projects to upgrade, modify or change the OS configuration, Kernel parameters and software by working closely with Engineering team

Work among the team to share knowledge, and develop team synergies within Deep Support and ITIO/ AH organization

Participate in any effort from Deep Support and Company goals.

May be required to work off hours on occasion based on customer schedules.

Qualifications:
Typically a technical Bachelors degree or equivalent and a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience or a Masters degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.


Knowledge and Skills Required:
Minimum 2-5 years of experience with UNIX, Linux, and IBM AS/ 400 administration.

Strong verbal and written English communication skills

Understanding and/ or experience in OS upgrades & installations is a must. Successful candidate should have experience installing, maintaining, and upkeep of enterprise computing systems including their internal components and interfaces.

Blades/ Enclosure Management.

MC Service-Guard and VERITAS Cluster Services.

Experience with infrastructure environments (e. g. operating system, hardware, data center, security, network, voice, end user and server / web related applications).

Knowledge/ experience in scripting and / or programming language.

Knowledge/ experience with implementation, problem analysis and solution of infrastructure and business application environments.

Ability to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team and fast learner.

Need to have working knowledge of a multi-platform UNIX enterprise environment comprised of HP-UX, Linux, and Solaris and IBM AS/ 400.
Strong troubleshooting skills necessary to diagnose complex issues and to resolve operational issues using Software and Hardware fault utilities.

General Project Management controls experience a plus. Customer/ Vendor Management, business analysis with good verbal and written communication skills are a must.

Successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively as a member of the team or as an individual contributor when the need arises.


Familiarity with Web based Technologies and some experience in a true Enterprise Environment is expected.
