Description
Summer interns in Component Design area are expected to work on the
design and development of electronic components. Responsibilities may include:
the design of chip layout circuit design, circuit checking, device evaluation
and characterization, documentation of specifications, prototype construction
and checkout, modification and evaluation of semiconductor devices and
components, performing developmental and/or test work, reviewing product
requirements and logic diagrams, planning and organizing design projects or
phases of design projects, responding to customer/client requests or events as
they occur, developing solutions to problems utilizing formal education and
judgment.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a M.S degree and working toward a Ph.D. degree in
Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrate experience in computer programming
Demonstrate understanding of principles of statistics and familiarity
with error detection and correction codes used in applications such as Hard
Disk Drives and Solid State Drives
Demonstrate familiarity with physics and characterization of
electronic devices and related circuit models
Demonstrate experience in technical problem solving capability and
good teamwork, leadership and communication skills
Preferred skills:
Experience working with non-volatile memory such as NAND flash memory,
phase change memory, resistive RAM etc. and/or related applications such as
Solid State Drives
Experience working with error detection and correction codes
Experience working with large databases
