Job Description
Broadcom is developing next generation SoC ASICs addressing multiple
market segments. These segments include embedded secure processing and mobile
payment solutions, Voice over IP, Industrial Ethernet and a range of other
market segments. These ASICs integrate high speed and analog interfaces
enabling wired and wireless communication.
Near field communications (NFC) is a Radio Frequency Identification
(RFID)-based technology that allows the secure transmission of data between
devices that are in close proximity. Mobile payments have been widely touted as
the killer application for NFC.
In this key position, you will be responsible for Silicon Validation
and debug, Antenna tuning firmware and firmware development and improvements
for our ASIC supporting NFC based solutions.
Responsibilities include:
Designing and debugging platforms with NFC radios and/or other RF
devices.
Firmware development and enhancements
Support customer reference design development, implementation and
migration to high volume manufacturing
Assist customers with platform design, debug, test, and QA when
needed.
Assist with special RF optimization projects such as antenna matching
and new front-end designs.
Train Broadcom’s sales teams and FAEs as required.
Mentoring junior engineers

Job Requirements:
Typically requires a BSCS/BSEE degree with 12+ years of related
experience or an MSCS/MSEE degree with 9+ years of related experience or a PhD.
Strong Firmware development and Silicon Validation experience of RF
devices preferably NFC devices
Strong hands on skills and good working knowledge of RF test and
verification equipment such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum
analyzers, network analyzers and frequency/function generators.
RF/HW board and system level troubleshooting skills including antenna
and RF network matching are required.
Proven ability to use RF knowledge to improve system performance and
debug.
Working knowledge of security standards and protocols is desirable.
Must be familiar with PC and embedded architectures.
Should possess strong verbal and written communication skills
Driven and committed individual who can work in a fast paced project
environment
